Silver Saddles por Covelle Newcomb
Old West coming of age story about a boy who must cross Mexico with a prize horse, Cimarron. Based on the real life of Corporal-T Gordon Gibler, USA.
Fun to read,competently written, fast paced, youth targeted pulp-style novella from the 1940s.
This book was written by Covelle Newcomb, wife of writer and artist, Addison Burbank, and beautifully illustrated (moreso the hardbound than the paperback) by Burbank.
The story is loosely based on the boyhood adventures of the late Gordon Gibler of Texas who was my beloved uncle, and also references my grandfather, the late Frank "Papa Poncho" Gibler.
