The battle between good and evil with the story of Jordan and Curtis. She's a Betrayer and he's a Keeper. But she finds out there is more to her heritage and that darkness does not have to be her destiny.
This was the second book in the series that I have read and I couldn't get into it. I found the conflict even less engaging and the main couple somewhat meh. The head bad guy, Abel, is very two-dimensional with the tired trope of daddy issues. By the end, I just didn't care that much. Like before there was a lot of buildup to a very quick resolution. Bad guys are winning and at the last minute things go south and good guys win.… (más)

There is a war going on and humans are caught in the middle. The watchers keep an eye on things from a parallel realm. Keepers protect humans to the best of the ability. Betrayers stir up all that is dark in humans and feed off that negative energy.
Libby learns that she has had a Keeper watching over her. Nick is drawn to Libby and realizes she is more than an assignment -- she is his destiny. But Libby is ore than human, she is also part Keeper and part Betrayer which means she could be a weapon for either side.
The fantasy novel creates an interesting world and casts the battle in between good and evil in a refreshing light. Think angels and fallen angels. It relatively short length means there is little time to fully realize characters and I feel like I've missed something (like an prequel series). The resolution of this crisis felt rushed. There was quite a bit of buildup and then a blink-and-you-miss-it climax. I needed more story.

A Mighty Good Man started off with intrigue and suspense but the more I read the less interested the book became. Hank started to irritate me more and more because she kept whining about getting out of Fiddlers Elbow and she was only there because her aunt was in the hospital. (She didn't even stay in contact with her aunt before finding out about the accident)
The story seemed to be more centered on her then on Jack. Hank is supposed to be writing about Jack's life as part of a gang. There was only one afternoon/night where she asked questions about why he wanted to get out the gang, what his duties were, etc. I'd also liked to know why Coz was waiting for him when he got out of jail.
I would really like to know why Trainer wanted to find him so bad yet he let Jack go without much fight. I know that blackmail was involved but come on, Trainer was the head honcho!
I really did like Jack because he was this tough gang guy but on the inside he was a kindhearted caring man who wanted to keep Hank and her family and friends from getting hurt. I also like that the author included the POV of Coz

The whole premise was a great idea, the story just needed more flesh to it and a better look into the characters background story especially Jack

REVIEW: “She’d fallen in love, with the story and the man telling it.” Journalist Hank Jerry is reeling from the betrayal of her former boss/lover and the failing health of the only family she has left. Is Jack her salvation or a dangerous disaster? There’s a great storyline with a few unbelievable elements. The budding love is hot and sweet. This is my volunteer review of an Advanced Reader copy of this book.

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: Her personal and professional life on the skids, a family emergency forces writer Hank Jerry to return to the small town and the aunt she left behind.
Fresh out of prison, Jack “Gent” Darcy is bent on cutting ties with the Creds, but when you're a war counselor in a national gang, they don't let you just walk away.
Injured and on the run, Jack lands on Hank’s doorstep, and makes her a proposition she can’t refuse: write his story about life inside one of the most powerful gangs in the country. It’s simple—she’ll get her career groove back, and he’ll bury the gang, then disappear—his version of freedom.
The only problem? They can’t help falling for each other, and they’ve both got something to hide that could blow up in their faces. With time running out and gang enforcers closing in, will the trust they’ve forged survive the ultimate test?
