The book is good, factual and a bit dry. I am unsure of how much insight the author has into the lives of the women of the Zenana. There is none of the drama and excitement of Ira Mukhoty's books.
You get much detailed information on the layout of the palaces, the foods eaten, etc. This information is exciting itself, but I wonder if it gives any insight into the lives of the Mughals. The book is an excellent adjunct to other nooks on the subject.
