Brave a friend for Merida is my favorite book. I love how Merida and her horse are such good friends. When they went in the forest I really like how Merida stood up for her horse! When they got to the edge I was kind of scared if they were stuck, but they weren't! The colors are so Beautiful! I call this book for all ages. This is a fairytale book about a princess who has a horse named Angus. Her horse is her best friend. They went on an adventure in the woods and got lost. They had to face a lot of fears together including jumping over a ravine. This is a story about friendship and conquering fears. This is a great book for young children. This book could be used with patients who are scared and fearful and trying to be brave. They would resonate with Merida and her horse.

This is a pretty faithful adaptation of the Tim Burton movie Alice in Wonderland. A girl falls into a rabbit hole and finds herself in an alternate universe where an evil queen has taken control of the land through fear of her animals the Bandersnatch and the Jabberwocky. In this world animals can talk and fight. Being insane seems to be a plus. Alice becomes the heroine she needs to be and saves this strange world.

There are certain drawbacks to the graphic novel form. Some of the amazing visual experiences from the movie are lost and some of the scenes seem almost cut short. There is nothing added into this book. In the end this is a faithful and really well drawn adaptation. The overall look and feel is maintained. But, if you have seen the movie there isn't going to be anything different, or anything added in the graphic novel. Has a great “making of”, section at the back of the book.… (más)

A short illustration book about Merida and Angus the horse. Merida and Angus are best friends and Merida decides one day that it was too beautiful a day to spend in the castle and sets off to find Angus for a ride. While out, they both travel into a dark forest and as they decide that the forest is too dark and scary, Angus is sppoked by the shadows and takes off. Merida sees a cliff looming as Angus is running in fear and tells him that he'll have to jump to the other side as he is going too fast to stop. Following a successful jump, they both return to the castle. Cute illustrations and good for young, beginning readers. This book would be good for readers who are familiar with this movie or enjoy horses, but not a good book for a read-aloud or to enrich a lesson.… (más)
