This pamphlet thoughtfully addresses the unconscious and therapy rather than any overtly spiritual issues. It is both profoundly limited by its ignorance of all that has been learned about mental illness since 1960, and also perceptive in its insistence on the therapeutic value of attention and listening to and delight and faith in the client. This pamphlet could be of interest to those concerned with the history of psychotherapeutic thinking.

The author explicates his sophisticated understanding of the genius of the unconscious, from his decades of experience and study as a psychiatrist and psychotherapist. He explains the goals and capacities of the unconscious, source of passion and creativity, the consequences of repression and the connections of the unconscious to health. He characterizes the deep unconscious as our spiritual connection to the universe, and the channel of our Inner Light. Mystics are devoted to bringing this connection into conscious awareness. This pamphlet is very interesting and an excellent presentation of this approach to understanding creativity and spiritual connection.… (más)
