Opening chapters of "Why Alternative Rituals" and "How to Get Closer to God Without Going to Church" is soooo far my my background and perspective, but so well written, that by the time I finished, I realized the author and I have shared some very similar journeys.

No matter your political or religious slant, give some thought as to why you participate in ALL of your rituals,, one at a time. Do they reflect your goals and beliefs? You don't have to angrily toss them on the fires of bitterness. How about changing what they represent and how you act them out to reflect you, and not simply tradition. Own them.
