Not badly written or anything, but I wouldn't let my kids read this book. The children in it were BEYOND irresponsible; if they were mine, they would be grounded until they were 35, at least.

Five Minute Middle Grade Mysteries Volume 2 (Solve It Yourself Mysteries) by Paul Moxham
Didn't think I'd like these books but I am hooked on them. Love that I can solve the mystery myself and when we read them with the kids, who are helping to also read them. we pay attention to the clues and it's so fun. Great way to spend time with kids with things they can understand.
Very descriptive and detailed. Entertaining and enjoyable.
To top that there is a bonus book at the end, a full length one, The Mystery of Danger Island,

Five Minute Middle Grade Mysteries Volume 1 (Solve It Yourself Mysteries) by Paul Moxham
Love this collection of stoies for many reasons. They are fun to read, mysteries that you can solve yourself just by reading the story and if you get stuck there is a hint and also the answer is in the book.
Fun characters and their friends still finding new things to solve in everyday life various locations around town and elsewhere.
They are well prepared for any event that occurs and know who to call for help.
Great for a bunch of kids to get together to read and solve these.

Mystery of the Christmas Spy by Paul Moxham
In this story the children and their friend Will are vacationing in Scotland with their grandparents. Amy answers the phone and before Murphy can even talk to her there is a sound of breaking glass and the mystery starts.... They are trying to find two scientists who have a blueprint for a machine. So much action and adventure in this book that I found interesting. Love hearing of the characters from this series as their quests go on. Descriptions are so detailed, I feel as if I am right there along with them. Such a fun adventure for all ages to enjoy.

Mystery of King Kong by Paul Moxham
Love these kids books because they teach the children so much about new locations.
The kids and their friend Will are heading to take hot air balloon ride with Mr. Pickle and Uti drops them off, tailing them for as far as he can. Things go great, they even enjoy food while in the basket. Things do go wrong and they end up on an island. The kids notice signs that others have been there and they are able to find food to eat. They are so aware of their surroundings and know so much.
They meet the occupants of the island but then mayhem starts. Kids have great plans and know even without much they can overcome the bad guys. Love how they tend to the ape and how they tend to him.
Never thought it would end this way, wow another KEEPER!
So much to this book: travel, hot air balloon, how to survive on an island, using resources on the plane, herbal remedies that aid others and so much more.
So fascinating, can't wait to read more from this author.

Bit simplistic for my own tastes but will no doubt be a hit with young children who enjoy a bit of mystery and adventure. Reminds me a bit of The Three Investigators series or Teen Power Inc - inspires a nostalgic feeling of old school mysteries. And maybe a bit of Scooby Doo with the stereotypical bad guy. The four main characters fall into an easy friendship although I found the first meeting with Will to be kind of awkward. But it establishes the friendship and this allows the plot to move on at a fast clip.

And this is probably irrelevant for most readers but as an adult I have to say Joe not leaving a note really irritated me. It was so dumb. I know, it's fiction but ARGH! If you're going to look for danger - at least let someone know where you are. Of course the mother then sending her eight and ten year olds to look for him is also ridiculous but I get that it's aiming for a historical vibe. And to be fair, the kids aren't idiots. They have some practical and creative ideas to deal with their problems.

The mystery was pretty straightforward, bit of a comedy of errors though. There's lots of hiding running and falling. But it's all wrapped up nicely with no loose ends or lingering questions, so all round a satisfying read.

3 stars.

It wasn't long enough to really introduce four main characters with any depth but fans of the main series will likely love revisiting the characters. 2 stars for me, 3.5 stars for target audience.

The Mystery of Danger Island by Paul Moxham
Saddened to learn this may be the last year of the author's works as he's not getting many pre orders.
This book starts out with the kids and they are at the ice cream place when Quigley says he's heading to Danger Island and htye go along with him to investigate the island.
It's been recently turned over to the public as the military is finished with it.
They also run into police chief who's looking for a missing girl. After their return from the island where a man states they are not welcome there, one of the girls had actually seen a girl in the turret of the tower. waving at them.
They go back on Will's sailboat and two get droped off and they are captured when Will returns to pick them up. Now all of them are in trouble.
Love hearing how they get out of this one, quick thinking and knowing what could happen they are prepared.
Reward money is always nice and it will be put to good use.
Love these stories.

I sometimes read literature intended for younger readers. Both to see what kids are reading and because the best of juvenile and young adult fiction is very good. The best of it speak to mature adults just as well as they do to kids. The Mystery of Smugglers Cove is not one of those books. Maybe some kids would enjoy it but I sure didn't. Four kids go exploring and find a cave, smugglers used to use it, now other criminals are using it. Kids get to close, have to be rescued, get away get caught again.......

International spy and midnight intruder (the mystery series worldwide adventures Book 1 by Paul Moxham
Two books in this collection.
..
International spy
This story we find the 3 siblings along with Will their friend in a helicopter flying back to the place in Aldonia where the movie is being filmed.
Their friends dad is starring in it and they invited them all along.
The helicopter crashes and only the pilot had a problem with his leg. The two boys head to a cabin that was seen from overhead to get help.
Crazy that they run into Max and his female friend Heidi as they head back to the crash scene.
Zonto and others are after Heidi for knowledge she has as they drag the occupants from the crash to a hideout.
This story is filled with action, adventure, new words for me, new location and some awesome cool tools and snow mobiles.
Parachutes are put to very good use and I love heairng about the caves and how they are able to stay ahead of the bad guys.
You may wonder for how long that lasts...
..
Midnight Intruder
Will and his dad have invited the kids along to Scotland. Mr. Tweedy had bought a painting and while bringing it home the frame got broken so while repairing it he discovered another painting underneath worth millions.
The group spend the night there and girls get up to get a drink of water and listen to a commotion in the library-where they painting was.
They are taken and yell to alert the others. Amy is very aware of her surroundings, sounds and getting license plate of the van.
As she is returned back to them with a note of ransom she's told to walk to the next town with the painting and meet at a location. She never arrives there nor do the police see her on the road.
So much action, adventure, quick thinking skills, and working out problems together.
Like these shorter stories and like longer ones also.

The Mystery of the Escaped Prisoner (The Mystery #10) by Paul Moxham
This story starts out when the kids are on summer break and just playing at the beach when they notice a man that avoids them while they are walking.
Joe seems to think he knows him and he does, after climbing to the top of the castle for a closer look. It's Boris and he's not in prison any longer.
They do reach up with him when he's being chased by One Arm and another man and they aide him into escaping from them. They bring him to their house and all the kids hear why he is not guilty of the crime he was in jail for.
He has to get to his sister Olga as she has proof about the blueprints that were stolen. There are many suspects and the kids and others like Quigley help him to find Olga.
There are other mysteries along the way that include guns and I find it very scary, even for me because they are just kids.
There are plane rides and boat rides, etc. Love hearing of the Scotland land and sights to see and explore.
Things get complicated and they don't know who to trust...
Such a fun exciting book for any age. Can't wait to read more. Think I've now read all of them up to date...

Choose Your Own Path, Outer Space by Paul Moxham
Love the collection of mystery books for kids so much.
This one starts out with you choosing from two selections, the path you want to take.
Based on 1950's in England and you are to imagine you are on your way to get ice cream when a downpour starts so you take shelter in the trees....
Quite the imagination of things can occur, depending on your choice of action. Such a cool book for kids, boys and girls alike.
Definitely would take some time to try over til you get to the very end of the story.
Such a fun relaxing book.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

The Mystery of the Secret Lake (The Mystery Series Book 13)
Story starts out with Joe and his sisters and Will getting invited by Colin and his dad, the actor to the Pyrenees.
Feel like I got two stories in just this one book. Will and his dad head out to see a relative and meet up with a woman that his dad knows but....
They get kidnapped because of the information Helen knows about.
Joe and hiss sisters head in a boat to meet up with Colin and things don't go according to plan and they are on the island.
They listen to a few men discuss about their boss and ifnromation a woman has about the heist.
So much adventure, mystery and just fun kid things mixed up with travel to exotic places in the 1950s where you learn so much.
Wish some of these books were made into a movie, they would be fantastic.
It's interesting how the story ends, never in my wildest dreams did it end this way.
Love the tunnels and clues along the way, SO cool. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Mayday The Florida Chase 2 by Paul Moxham
This story follows the first one with Luke and Jordan on the trail of finding their father.
They fear for his life while compiling the clues. Some times and events are scary, especially the hurricane near Key West.
I lived on an island and went through many hurricanes over the years. They get some help from the National Guard who are there to rescue others from the aftermath of the storm.
Very scary when the sea plane they take to Flamingo Island and an engine stops, then the other and they are still 11 miles from their destination.
Lots of new adventures in the midst of trying to locate their father. They know the bad men, the car they drive as they were thrown a bomb that said to leave, they were run off the road and other close calls.
Lots of new things to learn about as I'm unfamiliar with the area.
Such a cool story all the same.

This book starts out with Luke and Jordan they find some letters from their dad's friend.
Their dad left the area to go meet with his friend and now days later he's not returned so they pile the clues together and follow where it leads them to his car.
They find other clues from others and head home to pack a bag and head to Florida to do further searching.
Lots of action, adventure for the boys as they get into trouble but find solutions to their problems.
Ends up with them in FL and about to cross a washed out road....
Four parts to this story and can't wait to read the others.

The Mystery of Smuggler's Cove by Paul Moxham
What I like about this book is that there is one brother and two sisters and they meet Will who knows a lot about the locale.
He shows them the caves and one day Joe goes by himself to investigate. Lucky the girls help rescue him later in the day..
When they go with Will another day they go far into the caves-reminds me a bit about game of thrones as they have caves and tunnels under the castles.
This one they learn is where men meet and bring boxes in and will go during night hours to bring the goods to the boats to sell to others.
Very scary that they are only kids. Almost like a Hardy Boys mystery so am enjoying it.
Reminds me also of our local rum runner smugglers off the beach via the drain pipes that are big enough to walk through.
Brave kids and like what they find out and where...

...
The Mystery of Four Towers by Paul Moxham
This book starts out with series listings of the authors works and praise for his writing.
Story starts out where the children have raced to Darby's their favorite store. Will gets bored and there are no mysteries so he decides they need to just make one up and he concentrates on a man that sits nearby.
The children end up following him and they see later he's been kidnapped so the police are alerted and the real story comes out.
They next read about Four Towers and that it will be open the next several days to the public, for free. Kids set off to go explore and end up in one of the most fascinating mysteries ever.
Their friend from long ago has returned but he ends up going missing but he's also told them of a secret tunnel and how stones are pressed to make an opening accessible.
So many things to captivate their attention and help when it comes to times they are being chased. Love where this one leads as the girls are the ones in charge and have the big choices to make.
Jewels are up for the grabs also. I can just really picture this as a movie. The author describes it just perfectly, not only can you be there right besides them but you can feel the emotions they go through.
Wonderful ending, never saw it ending like this!

The Mystery of Ghost Island by Paul Moxham
This book starts out with series listings of the authors works and praise for his writing.
Story is about the children and Will's father invites them all to meet his friend in France.
I can't even imagine all the fun places they are going to find: ghost island, caves, submarines, earthquake and paintings by a dear friend of theirs.
Children camp out in the yard and really get to explore the location and run in Quigley who loves the area himself. Love how he tells them of a location he's been to before, so much in detail they will be able to use it themselves.
As always the kids get intro trouble, run away, get caught, escape, etc...
Love how they reason out a problem til a solution is found. This would make an awesome movie because everything is described in excellent detail you can just picture it all in your mind.
Like how they find great places and people they meet.

The Mystery of the Crown Jewels by Paul Moxham
This book starts out with the kids getting an unexpected visitor: Nadia from a previous book and they learn of the kings birthday celebration that they are invited to, in Monrovia.
Parents let them travel with her and they meet the circus people and are given a tour of where the jewels are kept. While the performance goes on the jewels are stolen and everybody is searched high and low.
Joe thinks the jewels could be in the lions cage because nobody would ever search there. He watches and sees the lion tamer with a ransack and he meets Mr. Chang and hands over the sack....
They follow and chase and a fire erupt almost killing one boy. Others come to the rescue.... for a bit..
So much more action as they trace the jewels and try to recover them....
Fire on the plane, blowing up, bridge falling apart as they cross and so many more dangerous scary things....

Pursued! Part 3 Last Plane out of Paris by Paul Moxham
May 1940 in France
Once they meet up with Francois they are able to get away but there are others who are following them.
There's a handful of them left and as they are chased around town and other places that they have no idea where it is they are heading, they get hit by a car.
One of the pursuers went over the side but others get in the way of them escaping.
Pierre remembers something Marie had told him and they head to that location and some recuperate from their wounds.
Bill heads out to the mountain as he and Jim know the light flashings are morse code and they know what it says. They have no idea who sent them the message as nobody knows they are there.
So many scary parts with bullets and running off cliffs and you wonder if they will ever make it out of France anytime soon.
Lots of action, adventure, mystery, strategy to escape those following them....

Ambushed Part 2 Last Plane out of Paris by Paul Moxham
Like in this story how it tells the daily things they do. The whole book is several days worth of events.
So scary at times. I can't imagine in front of a car with a torch to show them the way, yikes! Learned a few things as car disappears under the water.
Hard times when guns are aimed and fired and people get hurt, what a war!
Liked hearing about how they split up, several times, good strategics with good outcome.
Can't even imagine the lake and the outcome there, so drastic!
Very lucky situations.
Can't wait to read the rest of this series, has kept me up a few nights already!½

Attacked! Part 1 Last Plane out of Paris by Paul Moxham
May 1940 in France
Having grown up near one another Bill and Jim had signed up for the Royal Air Force and have achieved great status.
They are on a mission as the pilot is being shot at from the Germans. They were to land near the lake but didn't reach there.
Jim and Bill were able to crashed onto the empty field. Jim was dragging Pete the gunman from the back of the plane.
They are informed the Germans are close by and find where they were to rendezvous.
They catch up on some sleep but are leery of the people they see as they eat. Bill locates the man in charge and they meet back later with him and others.
Another plan is put into place and the men go to the town with them to help find a person and extract him to a safe location.
They spend the night at a top agents house. There's just a feeling and he thinks something just is not right in this town...
Lots of action and military talk as they conduct their business in a foreign country.
Interesting to learn of parts everybody plays in this endeavor.
Very lucky situations.½

This longer story is about the kids and how they are given instructions on how to sail a boat and are given one for themselves to use.
They sail to an island and don't expect to be gone long but things happen that prevent them from getting off the island.
Their boat gets damaged on rocks, they find caves, the find a house and are able to put a few clues together to realize they are in big trouble.
A woman officer comes to the island impersonating herself so the kids help her out.
They are able to put a raft together and the men chase them and the raft falls apart but they are saved from that disaster.
They put more clues together as the cops swarm the island.
...
The Mystery of Hidden Valley by Paul Moxham
This book starts out with series listings of the authors works and praise for his writing.
Kids are all going to travel with Will and his dad and all they care about are adventures. They meet up with Tom, a most helpful teen who gives them clues as to where the hidden valley is, through a tunnel.
There are many ways to get there, some not so convenient and the kids have a grand ole time in the lake and riding on the ponies. Tom is to return the next day as he has other work obligations.
Kids find so many things and end up in trouble and I love how they reason with what's there to find a way to escape. They go above and beyond in this one. Every book I read I keep saying to myself, this is the best ever and every time I read another it's the best book ever.
Just when you think they are doomed, they stop and think and look and it's right in front of their eyes. Liked other new characters introduced in this book and their jobs as well.
Can't wait to read more about the adventures!
