Betty Morris, who grew up in Seattle as Betty Cole, wrote poetry as a girl, like her character Ursula. While a graduate student at Columbia University in New York City, she lived, like Martha, in Greenwich Village. Like Sandy, she has sought to remain devoted to both her family & her artistic ambition. Her book of poetry, Waiting for Climbers, was published in 1992. "Falling I Find Wings" is her first novel.
