This book sticks with me even decades after I first read it in grade 8 or so (mid 90's). If it weren't for this book, I would have had no idea what a Residential School was until University. Short, and easy to read, it provides a gentle look at the realities of life on a reserve and the realities of racism and stereotype. I can't say I enjoyed the book at the time, it was boring to my early teen self, but I believe now that it was very much worth reading.
