Mr. Mladenov is to be congratulated on a great book.
The highlights (In no particular order.):
Well illustrated with good quality photographs
Good developmental and operational history
Excellent, succinct technical descriptions with explanations as needed. (A list of abbreviations is included.)
Coverage of the KA-50 is also included
There is one nitpick, I would have liked to see a better description of the escape system as to the best of my knowledge there is no direct western analog in production.
Mr. Mladenov brings a uniquely Eastern European viewpoint in terms of both his writing style and description of the history of this rotorcraft and its reception by the Western military agencies and press.
Highly recommended.

A one point during the Cold War this one of the most feared jets in the Soviet Union's stable of fighter aircraft. The MiG was originally designed as a short range interceptor. Its was meant to shot down American bombers if the Cold War ever went nuclear. The plane became the AK 47 of planes. It became the Soviet Unions's biggest export. This book examines in great detail the technical and flight characteristics of the MiG 21. It also explores this plane's operational (battle) record in in the India /Pakistan War, the Vietnam War, Arab Israel Wars, and its use as a ground attack platform during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.
This book is must for model builders and war buffs. The sections on its combat history are worth the price of the book.
