If She Dares
3 Stars

In the aftermath of a robbery , Riley Kendrick has lost her fun loving nature and finds herself jumping at every shadow. That is until Jack Reed moves in across the hall and issues a series of dares designed to help Riley rediscover her spontaneity and love for life. Of course, Jack may just discover that he could do with a dare or two as well…

While Jack and Riley's chemistry is off the charts and their interactions are sexy and steamy, the rest of the plot never really gets going. Riley's PTSD is presented realistically at first, but she manages to overcome her fears far too quickly with very little effort once Jack comes onto the scene.

In fact, most of the book is dedicated to Jack's issues with commitment stemming from his problematic relationship with his mother. As with Riley's story, Jack's sudden realization that he loves Riley, despite having pushed her away over and over, lacks foundation and development.

In sum, not a bad read, but there are better Blaze books out there.

Fairly decent harlequin romance. Gage was a misunderstood loner. Arianne the lively daughter of the local hardware store owner. She brings him out of his shell and into the life of the town. Pretty well written. A nice story. Worth giving the author another look.

"For this full book I give it 3.4 out of 5 stars, each story was charming in its own way. I enjoyed the glimpses that we got of all the characters ... just some stories I wish were fleshed out a little more than others. Overall, I definitely recommend this anthology to any romance reader, especially for those who want to get into the "St. Patrick's Day spirit." "

Anytime the words Blaze grace the cover of a Harlequin novel a seductively entertaining read can be expected. For that reason when I received an ARC of Good with His Hands by Tanya Michaels, I couldn't wait to get started. This is the story of a woman trying to reclaim her sense of self after a recent heartbreak. In order to do that she decides to pursue her secret crush. Boy is she in for a surprise when she ends up going after the wrong guy. The guy she is falling for is not her secret crush. She is falling for his twin-who she didn't even know existed. I would describe this book as a hilarious and heartwarming sexy read that I could not put down.

Another Christmas and holiday romance that hits most of my buttons. Elisabeth is planning to marry and move far from her home and the family ski lodge she helps run. She thinks it's best for her and her adopted daughter to find a stable husband and father, and to make a family for themselves. But her twin sister thinks moving away is a terrible idea and enlists (threatens) Elisabeth's former boyfriend to help. While spending time together Elisabeth and Justin become friends and Elisabeth and her fiance realize that all they are is friends. This book made me laugh and the family celebrations made me smile.

Good book about two people dealing with their losses in completely different ways. Colin lost his wife and son in an accident, and spends his time running from the pain and memories. He goes from job to job, never staying long in the same place. His latest job ended earlier than expected, when the boss's wife makes unwanted advances, leaving him with a month before his next job. He hears about a "widow woman" who needs help with her ranch and decides to check it out.

Hannah is living on the ranch with her four year old son. She has no family other than little Evan, having grown up in the foster system. Her husband was killed overseas before their son was born, and his parents are gone also. The ranch had been in her husband's family for a long time, and she is determined to make it a success. She plans to turn it into a B & B, but it needs work and she has a limited budget. However, she refuses to let the problems get her down, and makes the conscious decision every day to look on the bright side of things.

At the start, Colin and Hannah are like oil and water. She is nothing like he expected, and her little boy is the same age his son would have been. This aggravates the pain he is running from, and he's determined to stay only a few days and then move on. Hannah is grateful for whatever Colin can do to help, but frustrated by his standoffishness. Within a couple days, Evan and Hannah start to have an effect on Colin. He keeps finding more things that need to be done before he's willing to leave. A sense of protectiveness toward both of them leads him to stay longer than he had planned.

I liked seeing how they developed a friendship before anything else happened. Because she had also suffered a devastating loss, Hannah is very empathetic to Colin's feelings. I loved the scene where he'd had the nightmare and she was just there for him. They didn't need to talk, just the presence of another person helped Colin through it. That was the crack that started the breakdown of his walls. But it wasn't an easy thing, because he was still afraid to risk his heart again. I ached for her when it looked like she was about to have another loss. I loved how it was Colin's turn to be on the receiving end of blunt advice when it came to love, just as he had done to his brother and sister.. His big moment at the end was really good.

"4 out of 5 stars!! I loved how this series wrapped up with Daniel’s story! It is a lighthearted novel about two people, who have always felt like they were living on the outside looking in, finding each other. Yet, after a while of spending time together they have to decide if they want to stick to their personal dreams or to listen to their hearts."

Very good book. Kate had lost her policeman husband two years earlier when he was killed in the line of duty. Since then, her son Luke has been getting into more and more trouble. She decides to remove him from the bad influences by packing up and moving to Cupid's Bow, Texas. She loved the time she spent there with her grandmother when she was a kid and hopes that Luke will feel the same. It doesn't look promising when Luke is caught shoplifting by the sheriff on their first day in town. To top it all off, her grandmother is in matchmaking mode and Kate just isn't ready to go there.

Cole is the single dad of five year old twin girls, as well as being the sheriff. He also suffers from being the target of well meaning matchmakers. He suggests to Kate that they spend some time together, give the matchmakers the impression they're together, and get themselves some peace. Neither expects to connect they way they do.

I felt for Kate. She was at her wit's end trying to deal with Luke and his problems as well as deal with her own feelings of loss. She wasn't too happy at first about the attraction she felt for Cole. The last thing she wanted was to get involved with another cop and risk that kind of heartbreak all over again. But she couldn't deny that she enjoyed his company, and the kisses were pretty hot too! It wasn't long before she was falling for him and his adorable girls. But when the reality of Cole's job brings her fears back to the surface, Kate has to decide if she wants to risk it all.

I loved Cole. He's dated some since his divorce, but hasn't found anyone that he's ready to spend the rest of his life with. That hasn't stopped his mom from frequently trying to fix him up with various women. His second meeting with Kate goes a lot more smoothly, and he's impressed with the way she connects with his daughters. Spending time with her isn't going to be hard at all.

I loved seeing the relationship between Cole and Kate develop. Though it started out as a mutual protection thing, it wasn't long until they really wanted to spend time together. Kate was really cautious, wary of letting herself get involved with another cop. In spite of that worry, she really liked the man inside the uniform. Cole knew about her fears, and as they got closer he realized he wanted more than just their pretend relationship. I loved the patience he had, as he wanted to push their relationship further, but knew that he couldn't rush her. I hurt for him when his injury sent her running away and he feared that it was the end. I loved seeing who showed Kate the error of her ways. Her big moment at the end was sweet and romantic and so very emotional.

The kids were a huge part of the story. Cole's twins were adorable. He was a great father to them and I loved seeing how hard he worked at it. I enjoyed the realism of his struggles also, especially the help he had from Kate in realizing that the girls may be twins but aren't the same. I loved the connection that Alyssa had with Kate's son Luke, and how it ended up helping Luke also. Having part of the story told from Luke's point of view was a really nice touch. I liked being able to see his thought processes and what led up to his misbehavior. His attitudes were pretty typical for the age, which added to the realism of the story. But at heart he was a good kid, and I loved his pep talk to Kate at the end.

I wasn't in love so much with Be Mine, Cowboy. I found Rachel irritating and too harsh. Other than that, not a bad story.

Hill Country Cupid was really cute. I enjoy the stories where the characters have that moment that they realize that the other is the one they didn't realize they were looking for (if that makes sense?). I thought the dialogue was amazing as well.

The first couple stories were okay but I gave up on the last one so it's not in rating. (Graves) Stunt man Kirk is back in hometown shooting a film and Dr Amanda is the doctor on site … she was sure stubborn. ( Kelly) Matt and Jamie are back in hometown for a reunion … ending kind of abrupt.

4 STARS

I think this is my favorite book of the series. You see all the characters interacting together, questions of the past all answered and Christmas. I like the story of Daniel falling in love too. Couple of love scenes that I skipped over. They tried hard not to swear and some of their sayings were funny. Lots of emotions, a wedding, Christmas and reunion made for a exciting book.

Daniel Baron is feeling more than ever that he does not fit in with the Barons, now that they all have a partner & kids. He got injured and is thinking of getting out of rodeo and Texas.

Nicole Bennett is working for Adele. She is helping her run Adele business and is a close friend of hers. She is also pregnant.

Adele is Brock Baron's ex-wife who left him and her 4 children. She has not seen them since Jet was a baby.

Nicole is trying to see if the Baron family want to see their mom. She is trying to help get them all together. Daniel does not want her to feel overwhelmed by the Barons. He is attracted to her.

I thought this The Texan's Christmas tied up everything really well. Made all of the characters understand what was going on years ago and forgiving Adele and Brock. Building relationships with each other better and stronger. This is a quick romance that readers of the series will like.

I was given this ebook to read by Net Galley and Harlequin. In return I agreed to give honest review of it.

Elisabeth has had a rough year. The man she had been dating, and fallen in love with, dumped her when she got too serious for him. Then her best friend died from cancer, leaving Elisabeth to raise her daughter. Just as she's making plans to marry a nice, stable man Justin slides back into her life, making her wonder if she's made a mistake. I liked Elisabeth. Even though she knew that Justin had commitment issues, she had been willing to take a chance. After getting her heart broken, she's ready to move on, but this time she's going to protect herself. I thought the man she found was pretty bland, more interested in his work than in her. When Justin started popping up again, she soon realized that what she felt for Steven wasn't enough for a marriage. With Steven out of the picture she decides that this time she'll just live for the moment with Justin and not let herself fall for him again. This time around she spends more time getting to know the Justin underneath the ladies man, and discovers a man whose past has made him afraid to risk his heart. I really loved seeing her get him to talk about his past and how much better she understood him because of it. I enjoyed seeing them together at her parents' house on Christmas, even if it did scare her away from him this time, fearing what another breakup could do to her and Kaylee. I also loved her relationship with Kaylee. She obviously loves being a mother in spite of her frequent fears about whether she can do a good job. There are several terrific scenes showing both the good and bad sides of motherhood.

Justin is known as quite a ladies man. He's fun, charming and terrified of anything that reeks of commitment. His mom died of cancer when he was young, then he watched his dad just fade away from a broken heart. Then his older brother lost his wife and son in an accident and he has seen Colin close everybody out. Justin figures that if he refuses to fall in love he will never have to deal with that kind of loss. He had been really enjoying his time with Elisabeth until she said she loved him. That scared him so much he broke things off, quit his job at her family's lodge, and set out to avoid her. Then Elisabeth's sister tried to talk him into contacting her again because Elisabeth is going to marry a man and move to California - a big mistake in her opinion. Justin isn't crazy about the idea because he's never quite gotten over his time with her. I loved the way he teases her and it's obvious that he really does care. Opening up to her about his feelings about his mother and her loss isn't easy for him. Getting included in her family's Christmas celebration only emphasizes what's missing in his life, but he still fights the truth. I loved his conversation with Colin and how he was told that love was worth the risk "You were just too chicken to hold on to the one you loved." I also enjoyed the scenes that Justin had with Kaylee. She loved him so much and he loved her just as much right back.

There are some fun scenes involving Elisabeth's sister, the self-proclaimed "evil twin" and her efforts to make sure Elisabeth gets her happy ending. I'd like to see her get her own book.

Good book. Arden and Garrett had shared one fantastic night together and not seen each other for six months. When he did see her he was shocked to find out she was pregnant with his baby and hadn't intended to tell him. On top of problems at home this is one more feeling of betrayal and he's furious. He has no problem letting Arden know that he's going to be very involved. He doesn't expect to want to be involved with more than just the baby.

I liked both Arden and Garrett though both had their less likable moments. As a photographer Arden was working at a wedding that Garrett was attending. It was the anniversary of a major loss for her and she was feeling pretty low when Garrett approached her. He made her feel better and she ended up staying all night with him, but panicking and sneaking out in the morning. When she discovered she was pregnant, at first she was too sick to even think about contacting him. After that she started thinking up reasons not to tell him and never did - until she encountered him unexpectedly. She came clean with him but feels horribly guilty for not telling him when she sees what it means to him. Now she has to let him in but still try to protect herself. I sort of understood why she didn't tell Garrett but that still didn't make it right. She had had so much loss in her life that she was making the baby a way to deal with it and didn't really want to share. When Garrett confronted her I'm glad she told the truth and tried to make it up to him. She understood his anger but really began to hope that he could forgive her. I loved seeing her include him in everything from that point on and begin to get to know him. She was afraid of her growing feelings because she was certain it wouldn't last and didn't think she could handle another loss. I also loved seeing her deal with her two brothers. The scene where she told them about Garrett was fantastic especially when she lit into them for being so obnoxious.

When Garrett met Arden at the wedding he had been feeling a little out of sorts and envious of his friend. I loved how well they connected. Garrett was a little smug the next morning but he didn't really deserve to have her sneak out. Six months later he gets some unwelcome news from his mother which sends him off to stay with his friends for a few days. Seeing Arden and discovering that she's pregnant without telling him just put the icing on the cake of his crappy day. He's furious at what he sees as a betrayal by another woman and not too nice in his initial reaction. He calms down a little bit and lets Arden know that he intends to be very involved. I loved his reaction when she took him along to her doctor's appointment and how he began to soften just a little in his attitude. I enjoyed seeing him getting to know Arden better and how much he tried to protect her. I enjoyed how sweet he was with her once he got over the shock.

My Cowboy Valentine by Jane Porter and Tanya Michaels
Be Mine Cowboy by Jane Porter
Cade is back in town after riding rodeo and he brings flowers to Rachel's grandmother only to learn she died years ago.
Rachel is there and has just finished decorating Mia's wedding cake but he thinks it's her wedding cake for her wedding the next day. He had his chance once. Larry at the diner sets him straight and he goes to visit with Rachel
to find she has a disabled child and she's lost her grandmother's house. Next day she can't deliver the cake her car dies. He rescues her and they go to pick up Tommy her son and he gets to learn more about her life now.
Love the time they spend together where he gets to learn about Tommy and how he can help him because of the research he's done and
Rachel gets to find out about him since they broke up many years ago.
To me the best part was learning about the disability and how to handle it with loving people around...

Because of that others think THEY are a couple, instead of Tess helping him get a higher level woman.

Be Mine, Cowboy by Jane Porter
Cade has come back to Mineral Wells to try to renew his relationship with Rachel. They had been in love years earlier, but Rachel couldn't handle his drinking and gave him a choice - straighten up or leave. He left and has regretted it ever since. He eventually straightened himself out and now he wants to show her that he's changed. I loved the way that he knew he had a lot of work to do to show Rachel that he wasn't the same irresponsible jerk. I also loved the way that he was so good with her son and had the patience that was needed to help her with his special needs. Rachel had been heartbroken by Cade's departure, but was fantastic as a mother. Her greatest problem was an over abundance of pride which kept her from accepting help when it was offered. I really liked the way that he refused to give up.

Hill Country Cupid by Tanya Michaels
Series: Hill Country Heroes (Book 3.5)
Tess is known in town as a pretty successful matchmaker. She has known Nick for most of her life and can't understand why the ladies in town keep overlooking him. She makes it her mission to help him overcome his shyness so he can find his soulmate. Nick is happy to accept her help, but soon realizes that the only woman he is interested in is Tess. Both of them have some real self esteem issues. Nick has always been shy and quiet because of his stuttering when he was younger. His older brothers are very outgoing, so he tends to get overlooked. Tess is shorter and curvier than her older sister and always seemed to lose out on everything to her. This also causes her to think that no man will ever be interested in her. When Nick starts pursuing her she can't believe that he really wants her and it takes some hard work on his part to convince her.

I really enjoyed Claimed by a Cowboy by Tanya Michaels. Lorelei Keller has been busy working in the city and hasn't taken time to return to her hometown to visit her mother Wanda. She then learns that her mother has passed away and returns home to take care of her mother's final affairs.

When she returns home she finds Sam Travis living in the B&B that was owned by Wanda. Fireworks start right away. Then the fireworks turn into sparks of interest.

What I liked most about this book was the point don't put off visiting with your love ones because they might not be here tomorrow. Lorelei learns this lesson a little to late.
