Let me say first that the only reason I didn't give this book five stars is because it was written in first person. I got into the story quickly and felt like I was falling down the rabbit hole right until the end. Nik and James weren't the best characters that I have known but their ordeal pulled at my hear. I highly recommend this gem but ask that all readers interested read the trigger warnings.

I don’t know why I even bothered after reading the blurb. One character is a hardened criminal, another is an undercover cop who falls for him - torture, rape, murder and all. I have no sympathy for either of them.

And there is no excuse for the Present Tense narrative. None.
