I really wanted to like this book, and there were parts in it that I did enjoy. But the majority of the book did not grab me as it did others.
Hope Carmichael had always lived an extremely sheltered and controlled life under the obsessively watchful eye of her religious fanatic of a father after being kidnapped and tattooed as a young child on the back of her neck. She finally goes to live with her mother, and she is looking forward to living like a normal teenager, doing what teens do.
She ends up meeting a teenage boy that has been emancipated, and to Hope he is drop dead gorgeous. But he is not your normal teenage boy, there is just something about Michael Hope can’t put her finger on, but she knows something is every different about Michael.
The book starts out full speed ahead and then just drops to a slow dragging lull. That is when I just got turned off by the book. I did end up finishing the book but it took quite a few tries of putting it down and then picking it back up.
I was offered a copy of this for a book tour I did for this book for free, I did not have to write a review for it but I figured since I read it I might as well throw my two cents in, sorry I did not like it like many other people did.

I 've got mixed feelings about this book. I received this book for free and I voluntarily chose to review it. I've given it a 4* rating. This 390+ pages has a lot of dark experiences in it, with a few funny in some of it. To start with, it is a cliff hanger, not really telling you how it ends. Also being Catholic and doing a lot of research on Angels, this leaves me with a lot of conflicting feelings. While there are answers to many things, what really happens to Hope and her family is left flapping in the wind and it left me hanging. This is a big turn off for me. While I understand the topic of human trafficking's is a big issue, it really did little to resolve the issue in my mind also… (más)

I loved this book! Right up my alley. Definitely an adult read.

Just happened to receive this book in the mail one day out of no where! Don't remember requesting it, but I was grateful none-the-less for the thought of the publishers/Author!

I never did a review this book. I completely forgot. But, since I did get it for an honest review, I can at least give a little of my thoughts, although I don't remember much. (Was not compensated at all for this review)

I remember it starting off wonderful, but about 120 pages or so in, it started lagging. I really wanted to like it, and even gave it another 80 pages before I just gave up on it. I have since gotten rid of the book, in hopes that who ever got it, enjoyed it. I typically love Angel books, but sometimes, there's that one, that I just have to DNF. But I do believe Ms. McGurk has a lot of potential as a writer and maybe one day, I will give this one another try. There's been times, I've DNF'd a book, went back, and loved it! I hope that, if I do decide to go back, this will be the case for this one.

My last note on this book back on 1/11/15 was:
"I think I need a break, already. This far in and I'm still struggling to get through this book...after 80 pages of struggling, I just need to put it down for a bit."

The only reason I am allowing myself to talk about this book is because I did get so far into the book. Otherwise, I would have just took it off my shelf altogether and left it at that. But I did think about this book a few months back and thought about if I should try to find it and review what I did read, then I see it tonight.
