This book is convicting and comforting at the same time. I will be recommending it to all my mom-friends as helpful reading for navigating motherhood. Motherhood is hard enough on its own--but trying to live out the Gospel in the mundane and chaotic daily lives we lead seems almost impossible. How do I reflect Christ to my toddler in the midst of an all-out tantrum? How do I bring the Gospel into everyday conversations and the millions of questions from my preschooler? More importantly, how do I keep my own heart focused on God as I try to raise and care for all these tiny humans (and my husband)? Brooke has some practical, Gospel-centered advice for mothers everywhere. I recommend this book!

This was such a sweet book! I loved the guided prayers and Brooke McGlothlin’s tone was that of a dear friend giving loving advice. The only criticism I had was that I wish there was a little more meat to each of the chapters. The topics and verses were so perfect—I just wanted a little more discussion. But like she says up front, it’s not a parenting book per se. I recommend this book to all those helping raise little boys.

Many people believe in the power of prayer, but mothers are probably the most active prayer warriors of all. Author Brooke McGlothlin addresses these mothers in her new book, and she has created an absolute gem! Praying Mom is divided into two sections, and the first one focuses on the challenges that praying moms face. McGlothlin shares the actual thoughts and concerns of women in different stages of motherhood, and there are many prayer tips offered in this section. The second part is devoted entirely to scripture-inspired prayers that cover the many emotions that we mothers experience. There are prayers for hope, joy, strength, worry, and peace, plus many more, and these prayers will definitely encourage and uplift your spirits. I also appreciate that the author offers added inspiration from the abundance of Bible scripture that she shares throughout the book!

Praying Mom is a wonderful resource that is perfect for mothers of all ages, and I recommend it as an ideal gift suggestion for both baby showers and Mother's Day.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. There was no obligation for a positive review. These are my own thoughts

Despite the somewhat ambiguous title, this book may be a great resource for Christian parents who are concerned that their children grow up to be godly men. With special emphasis on the challenges faced by single mothers, the author offers specific devotions and prayers that parents can use based on attributes such as integrity, wisdom, patience, and kindness.

I read Praying for Boys: Asking God for the Things They Need Most, in exchange for honest review from Bethany House.

I wanted to read the book because I have boys--two special needs boys---and I need a lot of prayer. Prayer for patience, guidance, self-control, and support. Raising SPED boys is no picnic. Each has their own unique needs and skill sets. Some days, I'm at my wits end. I have read books and taken a classes at church on parenting and special needs. I have a whole folder on both dropbox and google drive with special needs resources, I found online. My Kindle Keyboard has a lot of books from Amazon and Audible about special needs. You think, with all the knowledge, I would be more experienced and prepared. Nope.

While the book does not focus on special needs parenting, it does focus on what I need to give my boys: Prayer, lots of prayer.

Praying for Boys is a good resource for any parent or family member who deals with boys. Even though there are prayers included where one can insert any given boys name, I was hoping for a more straightforward book of prayers or more like a devotional of sorts. McGlothlin provides insight/advice for the parents before offering the prayers. Many moms and those who deal with boys will appreciate these offerings.½

I am so glad to have received this book through early reviewers. While my son is only 2, I am thrilled to have these prayers be central to my relationship with him at such a young age. My daughters are 4 and 6 and almost all of the thoughts and prayers are useful in my perspective with them. I love especially that this is not in conflict with any parenting philosophy of ours, but rather supplements it beautifully. I will be using this book as a great prayer guide to jump start my prayers for all my children, and inviting other moms to join in.

The latest Early Reviewer book received through Librarything.com written by Brooke McGlothlin from Bethany House Publishing was an advanced reading copy (not a final text) titled Praying for Boys: Asking God for the Things They Need Most. I am the father of children four of whom are boys. I requested this book based on its title. The very beginning captured my interest as it appeared to be a welcome conversation with a Christian friend. I wondered why the book was geared toward woman and not men? As I read this book I saw it coming from a devoted mother that is raising boys in a Christian family that shared a similar world view and had similar desires for raising boys that are in the river modern day society and grounding them in the things I value. She uses scripture to focus on many important traits and characteristics and assists with prayers for those domains. She gives suggestions and templates for structure in a thoughtful way which could be used in an online or group format. Family and friends have already asked to borrow this book and wanted to purchase it as soon as they are able. I am thankful for being selected and will recommend this book to others.½
