The title and topic of “Find Your Happy: A Holistic Approach to Get Your Happy On,” may sound a little lighthearted and maybe a little foo foo, but this book is anything but that! I love true faith stories, especially the ones that leave a lasting impression, ones that encourage, and ones that make me believe that I too can overcome the darkness. As I write this the drab winter closes in all around us, but no snow, just cold. It is easy to keep your head down and preserver through the next few months unfeeling.
This read comes at the perfect time. The mindful practices, her own experiences, the health connection, and importance of purpose come together in a clear and organized book that sent me onward and beyond to identify my own happiness. McClintock’s writing comes in the form of conversation. The fun, real, pulls no punches – like honest advice from a good friend kind of conversation. It reminded me of a good friend from about a decade back. Boy do I miss her.
Page 5 declares “Happiness is our most important life’s work.” It is handwritten like many of the illustrations that join real pictures throughout these pages. This quality reinforces the authenticity of the book’s message and brings out the ‘human’ inside it’s writer. Open, honest, well sourced, providing other sources on the topic, the book is well put together, but more than that – Reading it make me feel great about me, I find excitement, humility, motivation, and gratitude for my own life as I come to understand more about that idea: Happiness.
