After reading this, you may still be perplexed but you will have a better idea of why. There are inconsistencies and oddities in FRBR that simply cannot be explained. Maxwell does a darned good job in spite of these difficulties.

This well written book is easy to read and clearly deliniates what FRBR is, not an easy thing to do. This book explains the history of FRBR and provides detailed explinations of FRBR elements and gives examples using real books.

The subtitle of this book makes it sound like "FRBR for Dummies." It's not. That's not a bad thing, it's just misleading. I'd have preferred something like "FRBR: A thorough guide," but maybe that wouldn't be as marketable. Regardless, this is a exhaustive treatment of the FRBR / FRAD project and an excellent resource for anyone who needs something at that level of complexity.

This book was extremely helpful in understanding the MARC fields that are involved in building authorities for names and series (I haven't tackled subject authorities yet.)
