The story reads as a Sleeping Beauty and Swan Princess crossover; Juliana and Hawthorn grew up together with different purposes at the castle and cannot get on amicably. The only matter they can agree on is their friendship with Dillon. The timeline change gets confusing at first; the narrative would be really pleasant to read if the timeline were linear or had fewer flashbacks. Nonetheless, readers gain insight into the relationship between Juliana and Hawthorn over the years and their revealed fate when the curse awakens.

The story takes place 14 years after book 1, introducing Juliana's and Hawthorn's children, Aislinn and Beauregard (Beau). There are references to the previous book that do not affect the overall read. As an excuse to avoid the moral world, Aislinn volunteers to find King Owen's son, who has been kidnapped by dwarves. But this mission isn't as clear cut as Aislinn expected. The book changes perspectives, from Aislinn's to Beau's to Caerwyn's, so readers gain an overview of the narrative from various points of views. The story is plot-driven and endearing.

This is a steampunk take on Beauty and the Beast, following Dr Asami and Beau (Beast). Asami is more worried about her family worrying about her warrant for arrest than the issue itself, showing her character, and Beast demonstrates his distance from society with an untidy abode. This is a dialogue-driven story following their interaction and romance growth.

This is a steampunk take on the Cinderella story, which follows Elena and Pip. Elena has a plan to escape her 'home' but she is interrupted by Snowdrop. Meanwhile, Pip doesn't want the royal life. Elena and Pip are endearing characters to follow, their own agendas kept from each other.
