I read this having previously read a novella by Amara Lynn, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
This one felt rougher for me than Tundras. The story was there – it's such a strong concept. In a human world wasted by a war between demons and angels, people eke out a living in tiny enclaves. They hide from demons, keeping to themselves.
