A touching story about life after death, romance was a bit stilted, but over all a teary quick read.

I enjoyed Cursed Rebel a lot; it was an action-packed foray into the world of faerie; one that I really found ever so entertaining.
This being my first book by this particular author I wasn't quite sure what to expect so I'm pleased to say that I easily managed to lose myself in the rich otherworldly landscape portrayed here so vividly.
The excellent world building was a huge positive for "Cursed Rebel" the author has managed quite splendidly to build and describe this alternate backdrop in such vivid detail that I could quite easily picture in my head this colourful terrain we have been introduced to here.
The story centres on Fin and Lucy and the events that unfold after he kidnaps her and transports her to Faerie, where he is under a compulsion to deliver Lucy to the king.
There are also other players underfoot; one especially that has been keeping a big secret from Lucy.
So, Not knowing quite who to trust, but needing her guides as she won't last one minute alone in this beautiful but brutal land Lucy tries to make the best of her current situation.
So why not a higher rating from me: look I really did find this a delightful read but I did have some slight issues with the beginning and the end of this story.
This for me affected my final rating.
Don't mistake me this was still a solid experience but I did find the beginning here slightly rushed, I felt there wasn't much build up to the actual main event.
There was just no backstory or building up of Lucy's everyday life before she finds herself in faerie, I felt we just skimmed the surface and didn't really get a sense of her and her tribe and I did feel this was a slightly missed opportunity.
I would have liked to have delved deeper into Lucy's life pre Fin.
I also felt the ending here was slightly rushed: like something was ultimately missing from the final recipe.
Thankfully I had no issues elsewhere with the rest of this story, the rest of this was grand and did manage to pull me in, captivating my imagination and retaining my interest very easily.
so despite the above, this was for me still a great entertaining read that I am happy to give a thumbs up to.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of "Cursed Rebel" of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

Slightly haunting, this tale pulls into a world where beauty is dangerous and love almost impossible.

Lucy's grandmother always warned her of the fae folk—alluring, cunning and dangerous. Being an average, American kid, Lucy new they were fairy tales. When a boy with bright, red hair dashes through her school, her gut tells her something's off, but first, when he captures her and takes her to the Otherworld, does the situation hit full thrust. She's been captured by a gorgeous fae boy, one who's job it is to lure humans to his world and present them to his heartless king. Without him, she can't return home or survive the lethal world around her. With him, she might meet a fate worse than death.

This is one fans of Young Adult romance with fairies, magic, Sidhe and loads of other fantastical creatures are sure to enjoy. There is a dark undertone the entire way through, since these are not nice fairies. The world building is well done, allowing the fantastical elements to gain a wonderful vividness. It's a lovely world to dive into.

Lucy has temperament, to say the least. She lets her feelings vent, especially in the stubborn direction and is snippy even in the first chapters to those around her. While it is usually understandable, sometimes she comes across as simply immature. But she grows on the reader and, by the end, it's hard not to cheer for her and hope she makes it through.

The first chapters are a bit rough in so far that scenes flip fast, sometimes very suddenly. It took a bit to understand exactly what was going on and sink into the characters and world. I did almost put this one down but am glad I didn't. Because after the stumbling beginning, it smoothed more and more until it became an engaging story that was hard to put down. Finn and Ryan both hit a teeter-totter of love and hate, which made for delicious tension. Magic grew, danger mounted and the layers thickened. In turns into an entertaining and lovely read.

I received a complimentary copy and found the world and situation enticing enough to want to leave my honest thoughts.
