The late Carlton Lowenberg was an outstanding Dickinson bibliographer, a fact well-known among fellow collectors. Aside from the primary texts, dependable bibliographies such as this one are essential tools for collectors of any author's books, ana, etc. This book, the work done by Joel Myerson, and the BAL are among my most treasured reference works. The specialized musical concordance in Carlton's book is especially helpful as are the Appendices. It has been long acknowledged that music played a significant role in ED's life, a fact thoroughly documented in Lowenberg's book.
