McClatchy, was the crusading editor of The Sacramento Bee and a founder of McClatchy Newspapers, the family-owned company that was forerunner to The McClatchy Company. Charles Kenny McClatchy attended Santa Clara University, where he earned a Masters of Arts in 1901.

Victor Lougheed (whose two younger half-brothers, Allan and Malcolm Lougheed, were founders of today’s aerospace firm, Lockheed-Martin, who changed the old Scottish spelling of their name to the more phonetic spelling, Lockheed.
