Coming from South Australia, which has only used a handful of grounds for first class cricket over nearly 150 years, and thus would only need a pamphlet to cover them all, it’s always a surprise to see that an equivalent tome covering an English county’s grounds becomes a relatively hefty book. And such it is with “County Grounds of Lancashire”.

My geography of the northish of England is somewhat vague but I recognised the names of Old Trafford in Manchester and the oval in Liverpool and Blackpool, but it is the sheer number of grounds in small towns and villages that makes one wish the South Australian Cricket Association were a bit more adventurous in selecting grounds to play on.

There's also plenty of (out of date) statistics for you to peruse.½
