I gave this book to one of my sons because he owns a sheet metal shop and has worked on cars. He did like it and learned something new. Good for beginners nad experienced.

This book is full of great demonstrations of what can be done with sheet metal fabrication. I was impressed with the overwhelming amount of color photographs. It isn't wordy, it isn't even particularly well formatted, but it communicates visually, and is the closest you can probably get in book-form to being apprenticed at a body shop.

Must have for anybody who loves cares and even dreams to work on them one day. The beginning brings you up to speed on what the English Wheel is and what it does. The rest of the chapters walk you through step-by-step on how to create/design parts for your car. This book does a great job of using small text boxes and many many pictures to help you understand each step of the process.

In reviewing the book I found the topics to be very logically organized. It provided the reader with a good understanding of the basic tools requirement as well as a good understanding of the process of working the metal. The material was easy to understand with pictures that helped clarify the process. What I liked most about the book was how it walked you through the fabrication process for the various individual panel types and that it provided a perspective from a collection of fabricators rather than just one individual. I would highly recommend this book for anyone that would like to try their hand at metal panel fabrication.

William H. Longyard has provided a fascinating book which shows as well as tells how to make sheet metal panels for cars. The book contains over 500 pictures to illustrate how the "masters" of the art do their job. Tools are pictured and discussed through out the book with a special chapter of "Cool Tools & Tips" to show the ingenuity of the men who shape metal.

A great book for the sheet metal worker. Lots of very high quality illustrations and explanations. Even though I am only a beginner as far as sheet metal work is concerned, I got a lot of good instruction for working with the basic tools I have, my hammers.

Longyard has written a book about genius. The talent and skill illustrated in this book, by text and pictures, shows artists at work. Longyard makes it all sound so simple, but it really isn't. At least not to me. The results well justify the effort that goes into creating parts in metal, the important thing is to start doing, the only way to learn what you can or cannot do. If I am to restore my "Bugeye" Sprite I guess I have to learn and this book is the first step in learning.
