When I got the request for the book a link to the authors website and a book trailer, my initial impression from the trailer was that it was going to be an interesting yet intensely dark book. The latter turned out to be not what I expected. There are quite a few dark moments but it mostly reads like a reluctant love story.
The synopsis above is a very accurate description of the book. It’s amazing. It drew me in right away. Sam is a great female character. She’s tough, doesn’t take no for an answer and doesn’t do anything that she doesn’t want to do. (This becomes very apparent in the novel.)
There are characters that I love and characters that I can’t stand, which makes a book great for me. Percy is so great. I would to have him as a best friend. But man, Dexter…sigh. You see his character evolve from somewhat reserved to one of the most romantic, loving characters I’ve ever read. I honestly never knew that a kiss on the cheek could be so sexy. (Just the beginning, fyi). Also, my boyfriend may have got some “Why don’t you do this for me?” texts.
Near the end when things hit the fan, I was pacing around my kitchen because I just couldn’t sit still. I was screaming at Dexter to make a move, screaming at Sam to stop being so stubborn, and screaming at Aidan to stop being such a selfish buttinski. My mother thought that I was crazy for screaming at a book
If you like YA, or romance…or books for that matter, you should read this book!! I can’t gush about it enough. It’s wonderful and I can’t wait for the paperback to come out because I want this book on my shelf so I can read it again and again.… (más)
