My initial reaction was somewhat tepid -- an adequate but no better mystery. There is something about the language that I do not find appealing -- a little too flip and unenlightening. A little like Leah is chewing her gum as she tells her tale.

Leah Hunter is a tax inspector who gets involved in the mystery when she sees a friend from school dragged into the police station and then sees her friend talking amicably with the police in the interrogation room.

Leah's romance with her policeman boyfriend, which explains her presence in the police station, plays a prominent role in the story.

The conclusion was substantially more satisfying than I expected.… (más)
