I've got this book in a Humble Bundle and while I did not get the bundle because of this book, reading it was not a complete waste of time (even though this book is quite far from being my favorite book). It's not the kind of thing I use to read - heck, is not even the kind of thing I LIKE to read, but I do recognize some valuable study material here, not only because of the journalism industry regarding games, but the history of games overall and how it evolved and adapted throughout the years, as well as how society influenced the games and its tendencies.
As an asset to the literature, I think that this book kinda lacked a central subject, not really focusing in either the author's life nor the so called "geek culture", and this bothered me a lot. It was hard to keep my attention to the story for more than 5 pages in a row. Most of the book just felt like a handful of names of people I never heard of (except for Tommy Tallarico) which probably mean a lot for Kunkel, but for me are just words I read really rapidly or just skip. It was nice reading this book, but I probably won't do it again.
