I was in the mood for a mystery narrated by a dog, so I decided to give Bed-Bugged a try because I wanted to compare it to Spencer Quinn's Chet & Bernie series. Right off the bat, I learned that Doodle is a much different dog than Bernie. It must be his poodle blood that gives him a more intelligent voice. (Hey, I'm not kidding. The most intelligent breed of dog is the border collie. The second most intelligent? The standard poodle.)

Doodle has had some difficulties in his life. His first job didn't work out because, well, he'll be the first to tell you that "...smart and obedient do not always go hand in hand." With this new bed bug job, his primary concern is his wages (food), but that begins to change due to his growing relationship with Molly-- and watching that develop is just as much fun as trying to solve the mystery.

If you're in the mood for a light-hearted, well-plotted and -paced mystery told by a sharp-nosed narrator with an independent streak, Bed-Bugged is a good choice for adults even though it was originally aimed at middle-grade readers.

I wonder how Chet and Doodle would work as a team?

The book is written from the point of view of a dog - that's a first for me! Doodle the Labrodoodle narrates the world as he sees it. That is quaint and humorous, but it wears thin quite soon. The storyline too revolves around some high school students, and drugs, so I would say this book is good for YA readers.

4 STARS

This is the fourth book I believe in the Doodlebugged Mysteries series. The first one I have read. It is cute and charming. The story is told from the dog Doodle side. I think it was aimed for young kids, but I still enjoyed reading it. Lots of dog information. I had no idea that dogs could be trained to search for bed bugs. Which Doodle does do for his boss.

The mystery is about a blog review that twisted things and wrote lies that effected a lot of different companies. There was another mystery too. Molly Hunter is ten years old but she and her friends decide to find proof and save her father's business Hunter Bed Bug Detection. The internet can really help or hurt a business fast.

Doodle is a labradoodle. He starts the story telling how while on stage for Christmas program being a black sheep smells a rat and chases it and brings it back to the stage and gives it to Molly. Doodle is proud of himself, but Molly was kicked off the stage with him and the boss Joss Hunter is mad.

Molly is bright caring and a good friend. Her father raised her by himself mostly. Her mother has just recently come back into the picture.

I liked all the information about training a dog to obey. Also how much work it is to train a working dog his job.

Bad-Mouthed his a fast read. It is full of drama, dogs and their training. It is also a clean read.

I was given Bad-Mouthed to read so I could give a honest review and be part of it's blog tour.

I received this from Goodreads First Reads Giveaway.

What an adorable book! Obviously for younger readers, it is easy to read and so entertaining. Will definitely keep this series in mind.
