A good book for younger kids. The pictures are well drawn and let me ask children questions such as "oh no, what is this animal and what is he doing?" before reading on. I do a reading program for children lap sit to preschool every week and this one is perfect for them.

This Valentine holiday book for young children will help parents of children ages 2-5 share the meaning of love. The rhyming text and delightful illustrations tell the story of a child’s love for his family―and his special love for Jesus.

My reaction at every stage of this book was um... WHAT. Based on the horrible cover, in which the poor cow is tied up and both animals are visibly terrified, I thought this was going to be some kind of lame justification of the practice of branding animals. Nope. It's just a story about an obnoxious cowboy who can do everything in the whole world except think of a design for his own brand, and the dejected animals are incidental background decoration. What on earth.

Why cowboys sleep with their boots on is an entertaining story where a cowboys loses different pieces of clothing throughout because he went to sleep without them on. Everynight as the cowboy lay down an animal comes and walks off with a different piece of clothing the cowboy isn't wearing that night.
I found the book to be very entertaining and funny. It explains quite well why the cowboys wore what they wore as well as what might happen to them if they didn't wear them to bed.
