A nice accessible introduction to Dunedin's famous William James Mudie Larnach and his estate. I was able to read through in about two days. There's a helpful chronology at the back to help you get your bearings.
It's quite a mix of biography of the man and biography of his place. At points I felt that more detail could have been included.
A warning to readers: The book does contain a fairly explicit and arguably romanticised depiction of suicide. If this is likely to have a harmful effect on you, you may wish to skip the final chapter.… (más)
