John Wiley Jr. - Margaret Mitchell and Gone With the Wind expert - has done it again. His second book of Mitchell's letters related to the making of the film Gone With the Wind is another one for every Windie's library. The letters have been selected to tell the story of the sale of the film rights to David O. Selznick and then the numerous letters Mitchell wrote to tell people she was not involved in the making of the film and could not help them get a part in it nor did she have a preference for the casting. The letters leading up to the premiere were very exciting and then Mitchell's thank you to the various cast members - Hattie McDaniel, Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, and David O. Selznick. Letters continued through the rest of Mitchell's life regarding sequels as well as the stage rights. The letters have been carefully selected to tell the story and just the right amount of footnotes are provided to give the reader additional information on people or events referred to in the letter with which the reader may not be familiar. There is a wonderful narrative section that describes the night of the premiere which makes you feel like you are there. And the book also has numerous photos. This was well done and I can't wait for what John Wiley Jr. will give us next.… (más)
