Surprised me. Not my cup of tea a grizzled mucho macho old hero with a mystic mumbo jumbo enemy...

But the Viking culture and cursed Thulric Lostborn's bad-ass-ed-ness dragged me in... Before I knew it I was over halfway through and hadn't been annoyed by the magical misty enemy much at all.

Along the way, plenty of concrete foes dismembered and dispatched to Nifelheim. The book maintains a downbeat doomed air and Thulric is just grumpy and ugly enough to not be an annoying Peter Perfect.

This is not Thulric's first rodeo and the tale of his earlier quest is interspersed throughout the current one in italicised flashback. Very filmic with the fractured narrative. Would make a great movie with Stone Cold Steve Austin in the main role...

Has illustrations (see the cover for an example) too which are a great add-value.
Anyways it was better than most dross and didn't deserve to be sat here un-reviewed.
Well done Chris Jowers, you are a Viking!
