This book seems like a small picture book but it has so much great information and encouraging messages. This book is a book about a small Christmas tree but is actually relating this to children growing and and becoming strong and helpful people. This book is actually a religious book that is taking about God and his power in the world and our dreams. Overall this is a fictional book but it includes many aspects of non-fiction and the experiences of the author.

This cute book is about a little Christmas tree who has not quiet grown as big as she needs to be. She realizes that she does have a place in the world and that she should be grateful that her creator let her have the ability to grow right where she was planted.

The book is about how the tree thought positive thought throughout her growing process of becoming a Christmas tree. i like for the fact that its teaches to find a positive thought no matter what it may seem like.

I feel in love with this book upon first reading. The illustrations are beautiful and feature a great deal of detail on every page. It feels like a handcrafted book just for you. The story itself is cute and carries a very positive message without forcing it down your throat. The things I loved it for as a child make me love it even more as an adult. The CD is an added bonus! I met this author at a Christmas Tree Growers Conference in 1999. I was about 10 years old and wanted to be a writer. She took the time to speak with me and sign my book. You can tell that she has a passion for what she does! I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a new holiday classic.

Summary:
This poetry book is just as the title says, its about a little Christmas tree. It is told from a little boys point of view and he says how he will take it home and decorate it so it shouldn’t be afraid. At the end of the book the little boy and his sister hold hands and dance around the tree and sing songs.

Personal Reaction:
I look at this from an all new point of view because I have never gone out and picked a tree, cut it down, and took it home to decorate it. It was pretty cool to read about.

Classroom Extensions:
1. I would read this book around Christmas time and go buy a Christmas tree and let all the students decorate it.
2. I would also find some Christmas songs that we can sing when we are done decorating the tree.

Age: Primary, Intermediate, Middle School
Media: Colored Pencil
Genre: Modern Fantasy

This book is modern fantasy because the tree is talking and the story is told from the tree's point of view. The author makes it seem as if it is a real story, but in reality this could not actually happen. The theme of this book is growth. Not only the physical growth that the tree did, but the fact that the tree believed in himself and never gave up was growth.
