I really liked this story! A reason I liked this story was that it showed imagination. Imagination is very important in young children’s lives. A lot of children do not imagine as much anymore because they watch a lot of TV or play video games. I also liked this book because it showed a student who was being made fun of being the bigger person and letting the bully play with everyone at the end. A young boy has a box and imagines himself in different places. However, a classmate keeps trying to tell him those places are not true but no one listens to him and eventually all the students play in the box. The characters in this story are very relatable to the audience that would read this story. It takes place at a school during recess. Students all play together with what they are given. These students play in a box and imagine different places they can go through their imagination. The illustrations in this book are drawn differently than the other books I have read; however they make the story better. They also give the readers a glimpse of what the boy is imagining. The language in this story is very descriptive and even has some onomatopoeia in it. An example of the author being descriptive was “my breath turned into a cloud of icicles.” An example of the author using onomatopoeia was “Leo isn’t watching where he’s going…BAM!” I also noticed that the author changed the font of the story when there was dialogue. I really liked that about the story because not many books have done that. Many students would be able to follow along with that format. The big idea of this story is to show students how to use their imagination, even with a cardboard box. A lot of students do not use their imagination anymore, so if they read this box they can hopefully change that and start playing with their imagination more.… (más)
