Geoffrey Jacques received his PhD in English from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York and currently teaches in the Writing Program at York College, CUNY. He has published many essays as well as three collections of poetry, including Just for a Thrill.

An informative, interesting, quick nonfiction read. The book covers America's Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and its influence. It attempts to give a quick bio and bibliography of works of major artists of the HR, in literature, arts, and music and their legacy. It is well written and enjoyable. I do wish, however, that the author had seen fit not to bunch together all the female poets of the Renaissance. Each of the men covered gets almost a half to two pages. All the women are covered in one or two pages. Otherwise, awesome book. Highly recommended.… (más)
