Doctor Who: Origins, written by Jody Houser with art by Roberta Ingranata, colors by Warnia K. Sahadewa, and letters by Richard Starkings and Jimmy Betancourt, collects issues 1-4 of the eponymous comic book miniseries featuring the Fugitive Doctor as portrayed by Jo Martin. The story focuses on the Doctor during their time with Division as the Time Lords send them on a mission to eradicate a cultist cell. Unbeknownst to the Doctor and their fellow Division agent, Taslo, the aliens who supposedly threaten Gallifrey are themselves Time Lords who settled off-world and began to change based on their surroundings with successive regenerations. Houser and Ingranata’s story is a lot of fun and explores the nature of Division as introduced in the Doctor Who twelfth series finale, “The Timeless Children.” It also leaves room for more stories exploring the Fugitive Doctor and any other incarnations prior to the First Doctor.… (más)

I don’t know why graphic novels from netgalley does not work well with my Kindle. The illustrations were great but the texts were missing. Honestly, I didn’t understand the story. I have no background with Doctor Who so it made it more difficult. As I understand this is a prequel. Anyway, maybe this is really not for me.

Thank you to netgalley and Titan Books for the free ARC copy.

I am a huge fan of Dr Who, especially the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctor and this graphic novel did not disappoint me in the least.

I like the way each doctor even though they are technically the same person although regenerated have a totally different persona and you could definitely see this in the graphic novel with their ism’s.

The Tardis on its way gets caught in a paradox and history has been rewritten. The Sea Devils have taken over Earth and now the humans are their slaves. It is up to the Doctor’s and their teams to fix it.

At the beginning of the book there is a little bit about what happened previously, and it also a bit about each character which is helpful if you have not been following the TV Shows and are totally new to Dr Who.

All of the characters have been illustrated really well, I could tell who they were as they were so close the real life.
If you are familiar with Rose and the Tenth Doctors story you will also feel pulled to it, when she doesn’t even know who he is.

The storyline is as I would have expected, aliens, saving the world with the help of their friends and the doctors characters shining out.

Absolutely brilliant!

I’ve seen some rather negative reviews of this online, but I really enjoyed it – another story of the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors coming together, with a parallel timeline where Rose Tyler is leading human resistance to the Sea Devils, and also a return to the more recent story Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror. Houser catches a lovely dynamic between the two Doctors, in general it’s well realised by the artists, and I thought it was a lot of fun.… (más)
