Absolutely LOVED this duet as a whole and individually!

Logan's been neglected his whole life and when he wasn't, he was beaten or verbally ab*sed. Caleb stepped in and gave him everything he needed and had never had before: Trust, attention, love, acceptance...

This book delved into the kinks that they both shared. The Daddy/Boy trope isn't everyone's cup of tea so some may not understand or care to know more about it and that's fine.

Logan needed his Daddy in every way possible and he definitely got what he wanted, even if he was too shy to admit it at first.

The only downside is that I wish we had seen some kind of justice for Logan's piece of sh*t mother and Mike. As well as Mr. York and the Coach for making him leave with her.

A huge shoutout goes to Misha Horne's assistant Jay, who helped me with a technical issue that I had with this 2nd book. They were able to send it to me privately so I could continue reading it to finish.

In this book that follows after The Brat & Beast Duet, we see that everyone on Logan's football team has noticed his weight/muscle gain and that he seems to be playing better on the field. His coach also informs him that he doesn't want him to see his potential wasted and it gives him something to think about.

Logan doesn't know how to tell Caleb (his completely understanding Daddy) because he thinks that he doesn't deserve anything due to how he was raised and the lack of anyone truly caring about him before Caleb came along.

But, of course, if you've read the previous two books, then you ALREADY know that Caleb is VERRRRRY understanding in all the ways.

Now I definitely need to know Walker or Ellis' stories next!

So, I'm not into kink, but in reading so much romance over the last few years, I've read more than I ever meant to. One thing I've noticed some authors do is over-explain, over-analyze, and/or over-justify everything about kinks. Whatever they are, doesn't seem to matter. There is rarely need for that. Readers will enjoy it, on one or more levels, or they won't.

Horne didn't explain. This is a pretty fucked-up relationship. "Romance" isn't the word for it yet. But the BDSM? What they do requires no explanations or justifications beyond what the characters feel and what they discuss (beg for, demand). That's all we get. And it's perfect. It is refreshing to be trusted as a reader to pick up what the author is laying down, and I loved that.

DNF: Abandoning at 19%, after pages and pages of a sex scene show no sign of stopping and our POV character crawls all over every (repetitive) thought but isn't getting anywhere he considers "good."

If I'm to like an anti-hero, you have to work doubly hard to sell that to me. It's hard, which is why most writers don't do it. To be fair, maybe that's not the intention, but it's how he felt to me.

I had to finish it for a challenge, so - don't laugh or throw slippers or stick gum in my hair :/

The story reads like part of a series, or a chapter, or a side story - pick one.

What we have:

Sam, who is a workaholic, the type that sits at his laptop night and day, instead of spending time with his partner.
Zack, who is emotionally unstable, has anger issues, and drowns his loneliness in booze.

Sam and Zack are travelling by car "to get away from it all" and are forced to stop for one night during a freak storm at some sorry motel.

Zack has a tantrum when Sam takes out his laptop to do some "work", and smashes the damn thing against the door. (Honestly, I would have done the exact same thing.) That results in Sam putting a good old belt to Zack's hide and then, in addition, bending him over a knee and delivering more spanking. Zack is no stranger to a belt, as his old man used that particular parenting technique plenty of times, which is ...OK, because in Zack's mind that's the only way to deal with his issues. And that tells you a lot right there.

As far as I am concerned, Sam can easily stand some very sound spanking himself and in copious amounts.

The other disturbing part - Sam calling Zack "young man" and Zack feeling "like home". This whole thing bothered me to no end. Imagine Zack bent over Sam's knee and getting hornier by the minute because the whole situation reminds him of his father beating the shit out of him. Is there a shrink in the house?

1.5 stars where 1 star is for poor Zack.

Brad and Rex have recently become stepbrothers and are meeting for the first time on Christmas vacation. Their parents are trying to get them to get along by having them decorate the Christmas tree together. Rex has been acting like a jerk since he first arrived. So while they are decorating together they get a little tipsy and their true feelings come out. With out in the open, will this bring the stepbrothers closer?

This is my first time reading a book by this author and I really was not very impressed with it. I really didn't like the storyline. It book felt like it was too rushed. I do not recommend this book to others.
