Intuitive Children
by Kylie Holmes

I had a grand time reviewing this 264 page book on intuitive kids and I believe it will be a real lifesaver for parents when it comes to raising their gifted offspring. The read was chock full of amazing tales and even suggestions that can meet the specific needs of the precious old ones and their usually insightful parents. I also loved the author's enlightened about angels and how they are there in the unseen always ready to be of assistance. The format flowed for me and I felt supported and comforted and especially understood all the way through.

There were a few apt pictures scattered here and there and I especially enjoyed that the author used pendulums with her children and talked about how kids when they are first drawing will naturally draw in a mandala fashion. I also liked the personal stories at the end of the book and was even reminded of the entertaining times raising my own "old soul" kids. I would recommend this much needed teacher to those raising children and who are looking for great insight into how to help these blessed angels grow up to be the fantastic people they are. Thanks Kylie, this one is definitely on time.

Love & Light,

Riki Frahmann

Are imaginary friends really imaginary? The book Intuitive Children: Children Who See Beyond the Veil attempts to answer such a question. This book is a 240 page non-fiction work by Kylie Holmes. The work was published by O Books in 2009, and it is a book about children who have imaginary friends. Holmes offers intriguing insight into where imaginary friends come from and who they might really be. Based on personal experience, hundreds of interviews with parents and super-perceptive, sensitive children, Intuitive Children: Children Who See Beyond the Veil investigates the deep and natural intuitive/psychic nature of children. The work also offers answers for a range of questions including thought-provoking questions about the journey of the soul and, more specifically, it provides information so that parents can begin to understand how to raise children who have “been here before.”

If you have ever wondered who your child is talking to when they have imaginary friends or you at one time had an imaginary friend as a child, this book is for you. Holmes examines the possibility that imaginary friends are not imaginary at all, and instead offers information suggesting that imaginary friends might be spirit contacts from the other side or contact from spirit guides. Holmes further argues that children are extremely receptive to spirit contact up until the age of eight, where the ability begins to decline if not nurtured by parents, educators, and society.

Kylie Holmes resides in Cambridge, England and is the parent of three children that she identifies as “Old Souls.” Her book goes in depth into the possibility of reincarnation, the subject of past life recall, and she further examines the issues that intuitive children face in their everyday life. Holmes argues that children are primarily “right brain dominant when they are born, which later changes to left brain domination,” and she explores the significant consequences of such a shift. She also writes about bullying by peers and how the bullying can affect the intuitive child. Holmes is an intuitive Angel Therapist, a Past Life Regression Therapist, and a Reiki Master, and her book reflects her vast holistic experience as it examines how parents can use Reiki, past life regression, Bach Flower remedies, gem essences, dreams, aromatherapy, mandalas, totem animals, and affirmations to help guide intuitive children and to help them to enhance their natural psychic abilities. You can use this book to discover methods for empowering a child spiritually, working with spiritual energies and other dimensions, raising an old soul child, and to find answers to questions pertaining to spirit communication, how to identify an old soul child, and more. The book also offers a listing of useful websites at the end of the text, but the text lacks any kind of index or bibliography.

Intuitive Children: Children Who See Beyond the Veil will cause the reader to seriously reflect on the way children are traditionally raised and educated by parents and in the school setting. Kylie’s arguments are supported by the works of other authors like Dr. Caron B. Goode, a nationally certified psychotherapist, licensed professional counselor, and co-author of Raising Intuitive Children: Guide Your Children to Know and Trust Their Gifts. More parents are increasingly coming to recognize the special gifts that children have and are looking to nurture such gifts so that the child can benefit from them for the rest of their lives.

This book is an excellent resource for every parent whether they feel their child is particularly intuitive or not, and the book reveals positive techniques for encouraging children to tune into their deep intuitive nature. Further, Holmes’s work is an excellent selection for anyone interested in getting more deeply in tune with the self. The book is well written, extremely instructive, and it offers detailed information on how to use a variety of holistic techniques for the betterment of one’s life. The text has an informal, relaxed style thereby making it a tremendously enjoyable read. Every holistic concept in the text is clearly and concisely defined; the author uses clear, direct, and succinct language, and covers a wide range of holistic approaches which can be used to improve the mind, body, and spirit. The book contains black and white illustrations which further enhance the text and which make understanding the descriptions easier as well.

Holmes’s Intuitive Children: Children Who See Beyond the Veil is a definitive guide for parents, holistic healers, pagans, and people simply looking for a way to live richer, deeper, more meaningful lives. This work is a wonderful selection for parents seeking to support, nurture, and educate their children in non-traditional ways. A completely enjoyable text, this book is definitely a recommended read.
