Dr Tony Heathcote was born in 1936 in Enfield, Middlesex and was educated at Cheshunt Grammar School and the University of London, where he studied History with special reference to South Asia. In 1963 he joined the staff of the National Army Museum and in 1970 he transferred to the Royal Military mostrar más Academy Sandhurst as curator and archivist, and was for many years the senior curatorial officer in the Ministry of Defence, prior to retiring from the Civil Service in 1997. He served for thirty years as an officer in the Reserve, beginning with the Territorial Army in the Royal Artillery and ending with the Royal Auxiliary Air Force in Maritime Intelligence. - Dr Tony Heathcote began a Ministry Of Defence civil service career in 1963, in charge of the National Army Museum’s Indian Army galleries. In 1970 he became curator of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Collection until his retirement in 1997. Dr Heathcote was educated at the University of London’s School of Oriental Studies, where he wrote his PhD thesis on British policy towards Baluchistan. He served for many years as an officer in the Territorial Army, mostly in the Royal Artillery, and subsequently in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a member of the British Commission for Military History.
