You have to keep in mind: when this book was written, there wasn't much of a prison torture porn out there (I can argue, but that's what the author claims). And so it was written by the author for the author.

Did I enjoy it? I can't say I really did; the list of punishments was too technical and, frankly, boring and it made me very concerned for the prisoners' physical and mental health. The majority of punishment was related to the bathroom discipline/punishment, not my kink at all but at least it wasn't outright disgusting.

I can't see how the prisoners can come out of this ordeal and integrate back into society to be a normal, healthy, productive member with no PTSD, fear of bathrooms, kidney stones, incontinence or any other kind of hiccups whatsoever.

Still, torture porn. Moving onto book 2.

I am DNF-ing this book and this series.

This is officially sci-fi with aliens in it. No human person can take what the author dished out for Neal and survive with his body and mind intact. He should be dead by now or so mentally damaged that the only option left for him is an insane asylum. His "punishments" are not physically possible.

This whole mess is so far out there, it's not even in the galaxy far far away or any alternate universe I can think of. It is on the whole entire plain of existence of its own, most likely somewhere between Species 8472's subspace and the bottom of a supermassive black hole at the end of times.

Or it might be a Ren & Stimpy Universe.
