In 1928, when the variety artiste Josephine Baker asked Adolf Loos to design her residence, she was at the zenith of her glory. Her appearance in the Revue Nègre was the talk of the town. Adolf Loos considered the design for the Josephine Baker house (unfortunately never built) as one of his best. The design proposed a drastic recasting of two existing houses in Paris, with a new facade covered in black and white marble and a large indoor swimming pool with viewing corridors along it. The guests were entertained by the underwater activities of the hostess and other guests. In this book the life and thoughts of Adolf Loos and the relationship between this design and his other works are described. Included is a cardboard model of the house.
