Masada Shall Not Fall Again is the fictional re-telling of the tragic story of Masada. Roman General Silva is sent by Rome to capture the last 1,000 stubbornly rebellious Jews who have not capitulated to Roman control of Judea in Palestine. These Jews living in Herod's Masada fortress have been able to hold their own for 3 years because of their trust in G-d, inspirational and devoted leaders, plenty of fresh water, and a food rationing system.

But the Romans are embarrassed by these zealots. So they arrive with thousands of soldiers and slaves; build a garrison, and then using cranes and slave labor create a ramp to the strong fortress. The Jews defend themselves with stones, hot liquids, and fire but its not enough.

Eleazer ben Ya'ir a key leader is a realist and knows what's coming. He calmly advises everyone what they need to do and how they will proceed. The plan is carried out quickly and courageously.

Good read.
