Krokbragd is a traditional weft faced weave originating in Norway. It is woven on three or four shafts and originally used a handspun linen or hemp warp and handspun wool wefts in a variety of naturally dyed colors. Today, we have access to commercial yarns which work equally as well as the traditional ones did.

This book is a combination of history, how to weave and design krokbragd and a series of projects to whet your appetite for more. There are even instructions on how to warp and weave this structure on a rigid heddle loom. A chapter on finishing your krokbragd has handy tips which add beauty to your finished projects.

Krokbragd has similarities to Bound Weave and since both are weft faced weaves, it tends to progress more slowly than balanced weaves do. Arm yourself with a stash of colored wool yarns and the urge to learn a new weaving skill and you may find that adding krokbragd to your weaving bag of tricks will be a lot of fun.

I have not yet read this carefully. It is basically meant for those with shaft looms who might also have a rigid heddle loom. This makes reading the rigid heddle directions more difficult if you only have a rigid heddle. However, it should be possible to figure it out. I look forward to playing with this in the summer.
