I don't read much romance, so I have to wonder if the complicated, passionate, crazy relationship between these two was the stuff of inspiration for romance writers. If not, it easily could be. It feels strange to be an interloper peeking into the private letters of these two legends but at the same time I couldn't help but continue reading.

I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in Irish history, particularly the struggle for national autonomy and self-government. Anyone looking for a true story of doomed love will probably enjoy it as well.
