Pretty dang cute! My seven year old LOVED it!
I think the artwork is really interesting and cool!

"In the end, what you really needed was a fun day with your friends, learning about the mysteries of the world!"

Don't we all, Spidey. Don't we all...

Cute story!

Perfect book for kids! Especially the ones who love the movie Frozen. Just read it in your Olaf impression voice.

Sven and Olaf take over Kristoff's ice delivery duties for the day - without telling him. This one was a bit boring and not as funny as the other Frozen books. Target audience 3 stars, my rating 2.

A nice little collection of short stories with accompanying artwork. Funny and sweet stories about friendship, boredom and loneliness. 5 stars.

1.5 stars. The Frozen Monster by Rebecca Schmidt - Marshmallow gets lonely by himself so Sven and Kristoff get him to help with their ice business. I liked the artwork. The story was alright. Not the best of the bunch.

4 stars. A Royal Sleepover by Brittany Rubiano - the girls, Olaf and Sven have a sleepover. Pretty rough that Anna wakes Elsa up - and Elsa's still the last one to go to bed. They build a fort and tell scary stories, etc. I liked the illustration of the fort. Pretty impressive. My forts never looked so good.

5 stars. Olaf's Birthday by Brittany Rubiano - this was my favourite of the bunch, it was actually pretty funny. Lol "Oooooh!" Olaf said when he saw the lit candles. "Tiny fire!" and "Would you look at that," Olaf said. "Tiny fire makes big fire!"

4.5 stars. The Ice Games by Calliope Glass - Kristoff has always wanted to compete in the Ice Games so Elsa and Anna team up to make his wish come true. This one was also pretty good. The attention to detail in the illustrations was great. For instance in the first page Kristoff is reading a book titled; Reindeer Ventriloquism for Fun and Profit.

But the writing was funny as well; She and Kristoff gave it their all, swooping and speeding around the rink. Kristoff managed a little jump, and Anna only fell down nine times.

Plus I liked the following exchange; "What a sweet little girl," Elsa said. "She reminds me of someone else at her age." "Me?" Anna asked hopefully. "I said 'sweet,' Anna. Not 'annoying." Elsa replied with a wink.

I love Frozen but sometimes their relationship seems completely unrealistic. Little sisters can be pains in the ass, for all you might love them. It also had a nice message about being able to count on your friends.

I’m giving this an interesting. The illustrations are so cute and cuddly I couldn’t help but pick up this book. Each creature is introduced to the reader in a poem or a limerick. Many of these have a tough flow. And it is tough to rhyme space alien words, and the author did a decent job, but still not my favorite Star Wars book for young readers.

To be honest, I find pretty much all unicorn chapter books completely inane. However, kids absolutely devour them. I purchased this series for the library before I had time to read it, and then thought I'd better check it out, if a little belatedly.

Sparkleton, a shaggy little purple unicorn, is very bored by his magic studies. He wants to DO magic, and is sure that when he gets his special power it will be wish-granting, like his perfect older sister Nella. Nella loves rules and always does what Gramma Una tells her, but when Sparkleton begs her to grant his wish and give him wish-granting powers, she agrees.

Of course, things go wrong almost immediately as he meets up with his friends - Willow, who loves bad ideas and Gabe, who is a bit of an Eeyore. Against Gabe's better judgment, he gives in and lets Sparkleton grant his "wish" which of ends up putting a cloud over his head, literally. Sparkleton's next attempts at wish-granting turn the other foals the wrong colors, cover them in a wave of mud, and make one of them too heavy to walk, let alone fly, which was what she wished for.

Eventually, when everything is a huge mess, Gramma Una tells Sparkleton that if the wishes aren't reversed, by the wish granter, by sunset, they will be permanent! Things get worse and worse and just when he's about to try forbidden goblin magic, Nella shows up and insists that Sparkleton start fixing things. Sparkleton finally realizes that the problem was he was thinking about himself, not the other unicorns, when granting wishes. The other unicorn foals are nervous about Sparkleton trying anything else, but Nella gives him another chance and lets him grant her wish to undo everything - and it works!

Some chapters end with a question or encouragement, "One more chapter to go! Are you feeling sparkletastic?" and at the back there is a countdown of the book's chapters, pages, and words. There are also questions to think about. The pages are sprinkled with colorful digital illustrations of the various unicorns and their goofy adventures.

Verdict: I found this trite and I didn't care for the relationships pictured, with Willow urging Sparkleton to get into trouble and both of them ganging up to override Gabe's good sense. Or Sparkleton's bravado - he's not really sorry for messing up! However, kids will find it funny and most caregivers won't have a problem with the bland morals. I'm not exactly recommending this, but if you gotta have unicorn series you might as well get this one.

My love for this book is so strong for many reasons. First, the characters in the story make me as a reader very happy. Dumbo is a baby elephant who has oddly large ears. No one accepts him, until he shows that he can fly. The way Dumbo grows throughout the story is exciting to read. To see him find his on way and embrace who he was, encouraged me to read on. Knowing that the story was fantasy fiction also made my love for this book grow stronger. For instance, in the book it states, "Dumbo sailed through the sky." That making my second reason being the genre of the story. The fact that the book is about a elephant that can fly, intrigues me. The way the author takes that concept, and makes it believable and loved by adults, is even more inspiring. My final reason for loving this book is the illustrations. Dumbo is portrayed as a cute little elephant that makes the reader fall in love with him. Also, the illustrations take up the whole page and seem to want to expand off the page. As a reader, you wish to see more. In the end, I believe that the main idea behind this story is to never let people steal your shine. The circus producers hid Dumbos ears, but his ears make up a lot of who Dumbo is. He is a flying elephant who is cheerful and happy. The whole world should be able to see him.

“Star Wars OBI-123 Galactic Basic Edition” is a “Star Wars” book for children, albeit a bit of a mishmash. There’s a “Star Wars” counting portion of the book, with young readers as the intended audience. And then there are the “Star Wars” number poems, definitely designed for older children as the words are too complex for young readers and the attention span required for reading the twenty poems is likely to be far beyond that of most young children. However, the book is likely to remain a favorite on the child’s bookshelf as their reading skills develop and they abandon the simple counting in favor of the more challenging poetry.

Nevertheless, “Star Wars” fans and parents alike will find much to appreciate in this book. The colorful “Star Wars”-themed illustrations are delightful and parents will appreciate the opportunity this book provides for them to share their love of “Star Wars” with their children.

This book is a special edition for Kohl’s Cares.

Recommended.

The pictures are cartoon versions of the Star Wars characters and creatures, so they are not too scary for a beginning reader. Unlike many other counting books, this book counts all the way up to 20. This book would be very appealing to young Star Wars fans.

I understand the irritation with Frozen's monopoly of pop culture and media, but if one is able to forget the over saturation for a moment, she can appreciate that the movie is actually quite great. We saw it in the theaters before it had yet become a juggernaut, and our family loved it. This book is simply a print adaptation of the movie, with deletions or abridgments that shorten the length of the story without altering the basic ideas. The writing is decent, and even better, the book comes with a CD so my young daughters can listen and read along at the same time. Sound effects accompany the text, and a musical note chimes when it is time to turn the page. We like the original movie, and we like this book. I'm sure other Frozen fans will enjoy it, as well.

Brief, but adorable radio drama with voices of the original cast. Not quite as awesome as Gremlins on six LPs but... xD

Kids enjoy the read along series but even they seemed a bit disappointed that some of the characters such as Olaf, Kristoff, Sven, and Marshmallow really didn't get any voices in the story where the book is advertised with character voices

PSC REVIEW:The title on the book reads Welcome to Pixie Hollow. It’s a encyclopedia of residents in Disney’s Pixie Hollow. Entries for each fairy are done by ability. So you’ll meet fairies like Bess under the heading “Art Talents” and Clank under “Tinker Talents”. Of course, the kids most interested in this will be the younger girls who may find this book pretty heavy to lug home in their backpacks. I have no doubt they’ll solve that problem and eagerly await their mom or dad to have time to read aloud the character sketches for over 100 fairies, mermaids and animal friends of Pixie Hollow
