High Honors for Letters to Sis!
For me this book was all too endearing and quite reminiscent of some of my own personal experiences. My grandparents on both sides were military and having lost my Dad and Brother each before they passed 50 years old, I am all too familiar with the longing for loved ones who have passed too early on to the other side of breath. I love the connections to music that CW3 Cesare Giannetti uses to connect with the memories of his sister. There is little else that can stir the soul in the way lyrics do, written or sung.
Based on his own letters, one can clearly follow the affection he had for his sister and the heartbreak of losing her. Life is never the same once a sibling is lost. Readers here find a rare and compassionate person who has walked through the real-life harshness of many years away from home in foreign service. They get to know the soldier. This book “Letters to Sis: Memoir of a Soldier” is heartwarming, entertaining, honest and is very hard to put down.
A story about current history, nostalgia, and one that renews belief in the human spirit. We could use more courageous and authentic stories like this one.… (más)
