I am reviewing the book, Simple Thinking: How to Remove Complexity from Life and Work, by Richard Gerver. Here are my thoughts:

^^ A book about the simple things in life, like following your instincts, believing in yourself and following your goals with a new outlook on life.

^^ Teaches you how to unclutter
your mind, change thought and behaviour patterns and and look at things in a different way. (Like anxieties and doubts).

^^ Clear and well written.

^^ At the end of each chapter are some 'Simple thoughts' to act on, to really work with the book and take action.

^^ This is a book one from a range of self help books by Capstone, which are all a similar size and stand next to each other in an nice even matching line, which I like. In a bookish, OCD kind of way.

Overall: A simple thinking book about simple thinking. Yes, I felt a lot of this was common sense, but it gave me a few 'aha!' (light-bulb) moments, because quite often with uncluttering my mind, I think I know what to do, but I am not doing it... Acts as a great reminder and is a book to delve into at any time for inspiration and encouragement.… (más)

An outstanding book. Part philosophy and part practical guide on how to develop a truly creative curriculum that empowers children (and teachers) and prepares them for an uncertain future. He advocates a topic-based approach to learning to avoid the sort of inflexible, fragmented timetable that results from a subject-based curriculum and tells the tale of how he did it at his own school.

He also critiques politically-motivated initiatives that have led to short-termist thinking and statistically-based 'accountability', and he challenges teachers to stand up for themselves: "we must stop waiting for someone else to give us the answer or to explicitly give us permission...it is time for the education profession to stand up and prove its professional status."
