Spiritual slavery to Sonship is an expanded edition of the book written by Jack Frost.

The main focus of this book is Jack Frost using his life experiences from childhood, as a commercial fishing boat captain and later as a pastor and speak to tell the reader about the difference between an orphan heart and a heart of sonship. His wife, Trisha, also writes in this book using her struggles of being his wife and the situation that lead to a change in their marriage.

The author points out in this book, that even though we may have accepted Christ, that does not mean we are living a fulfilled life. Often we cling to our orphan heart and live our lives turning to God only during hard times. With an orphan hears we do not feel there is a place we belong. We often believe we need to act, dress, talk and do the right thing in order to be loved and accepted. When we get to the point we are following God’s mission instead of ours, we will have abundant life. We will feel fulfilled, satisfied here on earth.

I like this book. There were times I felt like God was speaking to me. I liked the stories the author tells us and how he uses them to get his point across to us. I especially liked the chapter written by Trisha Frost. Her story reminds us that there are times that we make decisions about what we are going to do with our lives and God will step in and guide us in another direction. I also like the addition of the chapter on The Ministry of Restitution. We all get hurt and we all hurt others sometime during our life and this has very good information for getting past the hurts.

I received a copy of the book from Book Club Network for an honest review.

When I first picked this book up I was thinking that it would be a quick read. I was thinking I was already on board with all the teachings. Boy was I wrong! This book was a spiritual eye opener. As soon as I started reading it was as though God was speaking directly to me. I thought that I had been a faithful subject but realized that I was only turning to God when I needed him. I realize that I need to turn to God everyday not just in crisis. I need to let him show me not to let fear run my life. This book is truly a blessing and needs to be shared. I wish I had this book when my husband and I were raising our three boys. I would not have been so hard on myself. The biblical and personal stories are amazing throughout this book.
We all need to realize God is here for us through the good, the bad, and the ugly of our lives. We just need to trust in him and remember that he is our Father.
