This book was a fun read and I really enjoyed it. The reason it was so fun, was because of the illustrations. The book incorporated real pictures of New York City streets with the drawings of Emma, her family, and the animals she encountered. After reading the words on each page, I would actually take time to look at the pictures. My favorite was when Emma was resting from her adventure and she knew a cat was looking at her with hungry eyes, and Emma knew she had to move. She sat at an actually table that had snow on the chairs. The two mediums of real pictures and drawings was very intriguing. The other reason I liked this book was because I did not see Emma as a bird. The author made the story seem real and that her adventure to Paris was real. Emma had her old Uncle Bob to help stir up her dreams of traveling, her parents were very worried when she decided to leave, and she made friends like Old Joe on the way to help her. Emma met new people, had many adventures, and fell in love with a new place, which I believe to be how most traveling experiences happen. The big picture of this story was to have your own experiences. Emma saw her best friend, DuckyDuck, travel south for the winter and Emma decided to have her own adventure and was very successful.… (más)
