Siblings Shaka and Nandi walk to school with their father each day, but when he has to go away to work, they can't go to school, because there's no one to protect them. After digging up a toy bus, they have the idea to buy (too expensive) or make (too difficult) one, and eventually come up with the idea for a "walking school bus," where all the kids walk together: "Together as one, they felt strong, safe, and brave."
