I really enjoyed this book as it only serves reminded me that during my 40 plus years as a member of the Country Fire Authority, little has changed when bushfires break out of a hot summer's day in Victoria. Organised (sometimes) pandemonium and chaos is the order of any bush, or grass, fire and it is only after the event Emergency Services gather to analyse the short their comings and promise to fix them prior to the next major fire. As yet this has not occurred. Combine this with the now prevalent obsession to save forest undergrowth at all cost and we have another recipe for tragedy and disaster brewing within months of the last being extinguished.
